The festive season may be over but we're buzzing.
It's only January and we've already picked up a few accolades in 2018. Gold for our delicious Scotch Pies and Sausage Rolls and a silver award for our innovative Stovie Pie at this year’s Scottish Craft Butchers Awards.
At the start of the January, sales in alcohol and unhealthy snacks (crisps) were down substantially! As the month wore on, the weather worsened and New Year’s resolutions went by the way side, their sales have slowly crept up along with baking and biscuit sales. The Smiddy enjoyed a lovely busy festive season and now that Spring is approaching, we are stocking up with beautiful new housewares and gift items in the shop along with some new food lines. It is always good to try or buy something new. It helps chase away the winter blues.
The butchers are running a fabulous deal at the moment – The Butchers’ Bundle. A great deal at £20 and it changes weekly. The other big butchery news is that Euan has achieved his Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Butchery. A great achievement. Colin has become a father for the first time - a beautiful baby boy. Stewart is going to Belfast this March to compete in The World Butchers’ Challenge and Robbie is trying to keep them all grounded!
The café has been freshly painted for spring and are now doing afternoon teas at £10.95. Carrie, our fabulous baker, and all the other kitchen staff will be working hard to make sure that these teas are delicious. Alcohol can be added, should it be required. Last but not least, the deli have some delicious fresh pastries to offer at the counter if you are looking for something quick and tasty.
